About the Levitron EZ Float
What is EZ Float? The lights on the base of the Levitron are used to help you balance the magnetic platform on the base's cushion of magnetic fields. If the platform is too far away, the lights dim. When the platform is close to the right position, the lights brighten. If the platform is too close to any corner, that corner's light will go out. The idea is to get the platform centered so that all 4 lights are on and bright. The idea is still the same as with the last Levitron Revolution model, but the lights are more helpful and there is a broader margin of error. It really is a lot easier to balance!
The Levitron Revolution Series uses precision electric magnets to defy gravity before your eyes! And it not only levitates in mid-air, but also rotates without any physical contact at all! You can use it to display pictures, models, jewelry, or anything else that weighs less than 12 ounces and is not made of magnetic material.
This is the latest model Levitron Revolution, and the first with the EZ Float system. Older models had a larger base, supported less weight, and were much more difficult to balance.
The Levitron Revolution owes its existance to and is a by-product of years of experiments in magnetic levitation (mag-lev), a method by which an object is suspended with no support other than magnetic fields.
Precautions
- CHOKING HAZARD (Small Parts) The Levitron Revolution is not for small children. It is electrical, and the magnets are strong enough to pinch or smash little fingers very hard.
- As with all magnetic materials, keep away from computers and other items adversely affected by magnetic fields
**NOTE** Even with EZ Float, getting the magnet to levitate requires some practice and patience. While learning the technique to balance the magnet in levitation, we recommend using the thin foam piece in the packaging to cover the base and protect it from scratches.
***PLEASE BE ADVISED*** that each failure will cause the base to heat up slightly, and it WILL SHUT OFF automatically if the base gets too hot. If this occurs, you will need to unplug the base and let it sit and cool off before it can be used again. (Just a few minutes.)
