Grow your own live bonsai garden indoors on your window sill with the new Bonsai Village. The plants start sprouting in less than a week and live for years! This exciting dome terrarium grows five kinds of bonsai trees and shrubs - Elm, Lilac, Pea Shrub, Beauty Bush, and Butterfly Bush - enough variety that the basic techniques of bonsai tree and plant care can be learned by beginners or practiced by experts. Complete your serene, indoor landscape with thoughtfully placed stones, a Buddha figurine, bonsai tree decals and plant stakes, and natural gravel. Safe for ages 4 and up!
*Most people think of bonsai gardening as a development of Japan, but the earliest record of dwarf gardnening is in Chinese wall paintings from AD706. Known as "penjing" in China, the dwarfing technique of gardening was not brought to Japan until AD1195, and not called "bonsai" until much later.

Trees have been highly valued by humans since the beginning of time. In fact, the word "paradise" is derived from the Persian word "pardes," which means "a park planted with trees." Research has shown that patients heal more quickly when they have a view of trees. Unfortunately, trees are generally too large to be cultivated indoors.
"Bonsai" trees and plants have been dwarfed by centuries of breeding so that they can be grown indoors. The finest Bonsai plants are grown from seed so that there is no trace of the plant being forced into its final shape. Many bonsai trees and shrubs need to undergo some sort of cooling period or stratification process in order to sprout, but the seeds included here do not. They are quick to sprout with only water and sunlight!
Special thanks to Bonsai Tree Master Frank J. Mihalic for contributing to the included growing and care instructions. He is also the author of the book Bonsai for Kids. Please visit his website at www.bonsaionlinemagazine.com or www.bonsaiforkids.com.
