The Yomega Photon is a unique light-up disc because its LEDs flash like miniature strobe lights instead of staying on constantly. It flashes at two speeds, but both are so fast you can't really even tell that it's flashing at all unless you pay very close attention. If you swing the Photon disc over your head, for example, the motion puts some distance between where the LED is each time it flashes, and makes its flashing more visible. Switching between the two flashing speeds changes the visual effect as it flies.
The strobe effect looks awesome when you throw it! As the frisbee spins and the LED flashes, it makes weird special effects that catch everybody's attention. Sometimes it looks like a flying saucer (like in the video above), sometimes it looks like it's turning really slow, or really fast, or changing the direction it spins in mid-air. It's weird. Yomega is famous for making "skill toys", mostly professional-quality yo-yos. (We also sell their light-up yoyo, the Lightbeam.) The Photon is also a skill toy. It is a little bit smaller, flies faster, and is harder to keep your eye on than most lighted frisbees because of its strobe LED. Don't get me wrong - it's a lot of fun - but it takes more skill to catch it than bigger, slower-moving frisbees. If you have some skill at catching things, though, it is a definite attention getter!
